Born in Ankara, Turkey, Gokhan Avcioglu completed his education in KSU/BA with a degree in Architecture in 1983. He is the principal and founder of GAD (Global Architectural Development), and with his team, for more than 25 years, has been producing dynamic, innovative concepts and research from small private homes to urban master plans around the world.
Lead by Gokhan Avcioglu, the dedicated international staff of GAD takes a "Standard-NON-Standard” approach to create projects that push architecture forward. He has won numerous awards, including the 1997 Turkish Architecture Prize, a bronze medal in Miami Bienal in 2003, Archmarathon Award in 2014, German Iconic Awards in 2014, Chicago Athaneum Green Good Design Award in 2015, 2014 and 2012, MIPIM AR Future Awards in 2013 and 2012 and International Property awards in 2013, 2014 and 2015. Among his projects are office buildings, hotels, cultural, public and commercial spaces and residences in Istanbul, Bodrum, New Jersey, New York City, Washington DC, Virginia and Conneticut, Libya, Beirut, Riyadh and Kiev. Among his most recent projects are mixed-use residential and commercial projects in Istanbul and New York, hotels and private residences in Bodrum, Kazan (Russia), and Kiev (Ukraine).Avcioglu also has the offices in Istanbul, New York and Bodrum. Avcioglu is a member of AIA New York Chapter, the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), and The Chamber of Architects Turkey (TMMOB), French National Architects Order Board and the Dutch Bureau Architectenregister.
